I haven't written in a while because I'm juggling one or two things (as we all are).
- New old friends have emerged on facebook (yeah!).
- Looking for a part-time job.
- Evaluating schooling options/changes for my little one.
- Supporting hubby in plugging holes in our attic and replacing ducts damaged by invaders (yuck!).
- Continuing the spring planting.
- Re-doing my studio/yoga practice room, yet again! This time with a sewing station made from a craigslist TV armoire (I can now stand to sew!), and with room for Silas to have his creative projects going at the same time.
- Sorting, and clearing, and cleaning and simplifying. I think everyone on the Houston craigslist has now spoken to me.
- Dealing with some financial matters and getting ready for taxes.
- Doing a self-directed 40 day yoga practice, along with a new regimen of supplements to deal with hormonal challenges.
- Making bread, and muffins, and my 45th cabbage dish (when will the CSA give us something else?).
I'm also learning to juggle...literally. A friend of mine dated a professional juggler a couple of decades ago and he swears your brain is never the same after you've learned to juggle. My goal is to practice 10 minutes a day. It's very challenging and fun.
I've been feeling a little bit lacking for tangible results and am longing for fruits from some of my labors (I am human after all). I can always count on my favorite blogs for inspiration when I need a productivity fix.
I logged on to the computer for my daily communing with Soulemama (I feel like she's my friend even though I only comment on her postings now and then). Lo and behold, I found a project new enough to challenge me and small enough to finish during Silas' nap time. I made the Buttercup Bag out of remnants of two old tablecloths. What fun. I am definitely a beginner sewer, so just deciphering instructions is challenging for me. But, all in all, I'm pleased with this first effort. Fortunately I have tons of fabric stored up and plan to do one to repurpose a raw linen baby sling Silas has outgrown and some upholstery fabric leftover from making the cover for our child-proofed coffee table. I'll keep you posted. More photos of the bag here: My photos.
